One thing that I’d like to try to get into is competitive gaming.  It seems like a very interesting and intense experience.  I love to win, I love to be challenged, and going up against another person rather than a computer seems like it would enhance both of these aspects.

However, there is one major problem.  Namely, I play very few games that are done on a competitive level, and the few that I do play I don’t play with a competitive mindset.  SSBB and TF2 are both games that I play.  However, in SSBB I got better at the game not by mastering dodging or a bunch of tactics, but by learning how to manipulate items and random stage events to my advantage almost regardless of how the chips fall, and in the competitive scene that skill set is not only useless but outright looked down upon.  With TF2 I don’t play it enough, my computer isn’t good enough, I can’t aim, and while I have read up on the metagame I just generally don’t have enough skill to enact the tactics I’ve heard about.

So, games that are played competitively aren’t my forte.  Know what my forte is?  Platformers.  Sonic, Mario, Kirby, Banjo Kazooie, I’m good at these games.  If you put me in a race against another guy I’d probably do well, even better if 100% was needed or gave a substantial time bonus.  Unfortunately, these games aren’t generally seen in the competitive scene.  I’ll be making quite a few VS with games in these series in the future, and that’ll provide some interesting competition as I go up against others who are quite skilled in the series I just mentioned, but I’d like competitions in the platforming genre to become bigger in general rather than competitive gaming being relegated to FPS and fighting games almost exclusively.

I have a Kirby plush that sits on top of my TV.

He watches my every move.

He knows when I mess up in his games.

*WEEKWEEKWEEKWEEKWEEK*

One of these days I’d like to see a pokemon game where the starters represent a different weakness chain.

Fighting, Dark, Psychic

Ground, Electric, Flying

Rock, Flying, Fighting

Grass, Ground, Poison

All of these weakness chains could be quite interesting.
